The Preschool Principal is responsible for leading the school administration team and the overall operations of the school. This includes ensuring the delivery of a high-quality instructional program, marketing plan implementation, student enrollment, parent and community relations, staff supervision and evaluation of approved curriculum and professional development, profit and loss management, and facility management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Educational Program:
• Provides and maintains high quality educational programs and ensures successful implementation of approved curriculum.
• Uses data to inform decisions in support of continuous improvement and implementation of the instructional program.
• Provides ongoing opportunities for the continuous professional growth of teachers and staff.
• Participates in the establishment and achievement of quality standards.
• Evaluates the work performance and writes observations of all teaching staff according to SEG procedures.
• Counsels and provides guidance to students regarding personal, academic, vocational, and behavioral issues.
• Reviews lesson plans and provides approval or comments on a timely basis.
• Ensures a safe, clean, attractive school and classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Leads the accreditation process of the school as required.
Leadership:
• Creates a vision for the school and positively influences all constituents to work toward and meet the vision.
• Utilizes the resources provided through SEG to support the continuous growth and improvement of the instructional program.
• Maintains compliance with accreditation and state licensing requirements as well as all applicable state and federal laws, and SEG internal policies and procedures.
• Builds effective relationships with other administrators, corporate and office staff.
• Effectively delegates assignments and provides staff with opportunities for career growth.
• Continually demonstrates and models professionalism in word, behavior, attire, composure, and knowledge.
• Models and maintains a high degree of continuous personal professional development through course work, workshops, and conferences.
• Provides ongoing opportunities that support the professional growth of teachers and staff.
• Demonstrates high degree of integrity and honesty, including but not limited to confidentiality of company, student, family, and employee information as required by both company policy and federal and state laws.
Profit & Expense Control:
• Manages school to achieve or exceed planned financial and enrollment targets.
• Operates within budget and demonstrates proficiency in the budgeting process.
• Fully utilizes the financial / business management system, including maintaining accurate records and submitting weekly reports on a timely basis, and ensuring financial integrity in all business dealings.
• Obtains and incorporates feedback on what they can do better to help the school, the individual and SEG achieve the objective of profitable/educational excellence.
Staff Management:
• Recruits and orients qualified staff, including recruiting staff for future needs.
• Provides a clear plan for professional development that supports the implementation of SEG curriculum.
• Leads, supervises and evaluates both exempt and non-exempt level staff including: certified teachers, teacher assistants, substitutes, and support staff (drivers, cooks, janitors, etc.), and ensures their compliance with all SEG policies and procedures as well as state and local requirements.
• Monitors classroom instructional practice and provides feedback to teachers to support continuous professional growth.
• Provides orientation for all new employees; provides opportunities for staff to engage in team interaction in order to build rapport and increase staff morale.
• Provides time and resources to staff development and in-service as needed in conjunction with both the Education and Operations Departments.
• Retains the best staff by providing clear expectations and acknowledging individual contributions.
• Demonstrates the importance of feedback, documentation and informal development discussions which supplement the annual performance review. Provides corrective action when necessary in a timely manner.
• Manages external vendors to ensure compliance with SEG policies, procedures, and standards.
Marketing & Enrollment:
• Uses local marketing strategy to generate and retain enrollment.
• Follows Customer Engaged Admissions processes and protocols.
• Maintains and updates school website with accurate school information.
• Maintains proactive and positive relationships with parents and prospective parents.
• Coordinates with and supports central marketing efforts.
Ancillary Programs:
• Assists in the planning, implementation and operation of successful and creative before and after school programs, summer programs including summer day camp, specialty camps, and all other local and national enrichment / ancillary programs.
Professional Development:
• Attends local or regional training and development sessions as required.
• Organizes staff, time and material resources to ensure the ongoing professional development of teachers and staff to support a rigorous instructional program.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Education & Credentials:
• Director-qualified (per local licensing requirements) required
• Bachelor’s degree in educational administration or similar preferred.
• Minimum of three years of experience in preschool administration preferred.
• Minimum of one year teaching experience required; three years preschool teaching experience preferred. May substitute experience with an educational services company for school experience.
• Meets minimum preparation and experience required to comply with applicable State regulation and accrediting boards as well as holds any State required certifications.

• Utilizes technology to effectively communicate with staff, parents and the administrative team.
• Knowledge of principles, techniques, goals, and objectives of early childhood education.
• Knowledge of and proficiency with technology and the unique role it plays in education.
• Demonstrates strong organizational skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of basic math skills.
