About the Role:
Heritage Oak School is seeking an experienced Preschool Principal to provide instructional, operational, and strategic leadership for our preschool and pre-kindergarten programs.
As a member of the campus administrative leadership team, the Preschool Principal is responsible for delivering a high-quality early childhood education program and maintaining a safe, nurturing, academically engaging, and family-centered school environment.
In partnership with the Head of School, this leader oversees curriculum implementation, faculty development, enrollment and retention, family engagement, marketing initiatives, financial performance, regulatory compliance, and facility operations. The Preschool Principal establishes a clear vision for learning and ensures that the program supports each child’s academic, social-emotional, and developmental growth in alignment with Heritage Oak and Spring Education Group standards.
Key Responsibilities
Educational Leadership and Program Quality
• Establish and communicate a clear vision for excellence across the preschool and pre-kindergarten programs
• Ensure consistent implementation of approved curriculum, instructional practices, assessments, and student learning objectives
• Promote developmentally appropriate learning experiences that support academic readiness, social-emotional development, independence, creativity, and critical thinking
• Observe classroom instruction, provide actionable feedback, and support the continued professional development of teachers
• Use classroom observations, student progress, and family feedback to evaluate program quality and identify opportunities for improvement
Faculty Leadership and School Culture
• Recruit, onboard, supervise, develop, and retain qualified educators and support staff
• Establish clear expectations for employee performance, professionalism, collaboration, communication, and accountability
• Provide ongoing coaching, professional development, and performance feedback
• Cultivate a positive school culture centered on care, respect, teamwork, and student success
• Partner with the Head of School and campus leadership team to advance schoolwide priorities
Family Engagement, Enrollment, and Community Outreach
• Build strong relationships with current and prospective families through responsive communication and exceptional service
• Address family questions and concerns with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment
• Drive enrollment and retention by effectively communicating the value of Heritage Oak’s preschool and pre-kindergarten programs
• Partner with admissions, marketing, and regional teams to support campus tours, open houses, enrollment events, and local marketing initiatives
• Monitor enrollment trends, retention, conversion activity, and family feedback to inform program and outreach strategies
• Serve as a visible and engaged leader within the school and surrounding community
Operations, Safety, and Compliance
• Oversee daily program operations to maintain a safe, clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate learning environment
• Ensure compliance with California childcare licensing requirements, accreditation standards, health and safety regulations, and applicable laws
• Maintain required student, employee, licensing, health, and operational records
• Ensure adherence to Heritage Oak and Spring Education Group policies and procedures
• Oversee emergency preparedness, student supervision, medication procedures, incident response, and campus safety protocols
• Maintain appropriate staffing levels and teacher-to-student ratios based on licensing requirements and enrollment needs
• Partner with school leadership and facilities teams to address maintenance, security, classroom readiness, and other operational needs
Financial and Business Management
• Collaborate with the Head of School to monitor budgets, revenue, expenses, and profit-and-loss performance
• Align staffing and scheduling practices with enrollment, licensing ratios, educational quality, and financial objectives
• Monitor operational metrics, including enrollment, retention, classroom capacity, staffing levels, and labor utilization
• Use data and sound business judgment to inform staffing, scheduling, purchasing, and operational decisions
What We Are Looking For
• Twelve semester units in Early Childhood Education or Child Development required
• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Child Development, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
• Minimum of three years of experience in education administration, early childhood program leadership, school operations, or business administration preferred
• At least one year of classroom teaching experience in a preschool, pre-kindergarten, or early childhood education setting
• Previous experience as a Preschool Principal, Preschool Director, Early Childhood Education Director, or comparable school administrator preferred
• Must meet all applicable California licensing, credentialing, and director qualification requirements
• Working knowledge of childcare licensing regulations, accreditation standards, student safety requirements, and educational compliance practices
• Experience supporting enrollment, admissions, family retention, community outreach, or school marketing preferred
• Demonstrated ability to recruit, coach, develop, and lead educators and support staff
• Strong leadership, communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail
• Commitment to providing a nurturing, inclusive, and academically enriching early childhood education experience
• Ability to pass all required state and federal background checks
