About the Role
Teaching music at Stratford School is a unique opportunity to introduce young children to the joy of music while helping build a foundation for lifelong learning and appreciation. The Preschool Music Substitute Teacher provides engaging, age-appropriate music experiences for preschool students and may step in to support the classroom when the regular music teacher is absent. This role works collaboratively with classroom teachers and other faculty to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment while introducing young learners to musical concepts, instruments, rhythm, movement, and piano.

You Will Also…
• Lead engaging, age-appropriate music activities that introduce preschool students to rhythm, melody, movement, instruments, and a variety of musical styles
• Step into the classroom when the regular teacher is absent, maintaining established routines and supporting planned learning activities
• Create a positive and engaging learning environment where young children feel supported, encouraged, and excited to participate
• Introduce young students to the piano and incorporate piano instruction and demonstration into age-appropriate activities
• Provide piano accompaniment for classroom performances and school events, as appropriate
• Assist students in using rhythm instruments and other classroom music resources
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and faculty to support music activities and, when appropriate, integrate music with classroom learning
• Follow established lesson plans, classroom routines, and school policies
• Provide appropriate supervision and maintain a safe environment for students
• Perform other duties as assigned

What We Are Looking For
• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music, Early Childhood Education, or a related field preferred
• Demonstrated piano proficiency and strong sight-reading skills required
• Experience teaching or working with preschool-aged children preferred
• Ability to engage young children through music, movement, instruments, and age-appropriate activities
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Patience, flexibility, and the ability to adapt to different classroom environments
• Dependable and comfortable working on an on-call basis
• Commitment to creating a warm, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment for young children
