About the Role
Van Avery Kids World is seeking caring and dependable Preschool Classroom Substitute Teacher to support our classrooms as needed. The ideal candidate enjoys working with young children, creates a safe and nurturing environment, and is able to step in seamlessly to support daily routines and learning activities.
Responsibilities Include:
• Support and implement lesson plans and daily classroom routines as directed by the lead teacher
• Provide a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment
• Supervise children at all times to ensure their safety and well-being
• Use positive guidance and redirection to support children’s behavior
• Build warm, respectful relationships with children and staff
• Assist with transitions, meals, outdoor play, and classroom activities
• Maintain a clean, organized classroom and follow all school policies
• Communicate effectively with staff and leave notes about the day as needed
What We Are Looking For:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent quarter units in early childhood education or child development completed from an accredited or approved college or university.
• Prior experience working with preschool-aged children preferred
• Understanding of early childhood development and age-appropriate practices
• Ability to follow classroom procedures and lesson plans
• Reliable, flexible, and punctual
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Flexibility and adaptability in managing diverse classroom situations.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Patience, professionalism, and a positive attitude.
