What We're Looking For:
Stratford Preparatory is seeking a Vice Principal for our middle school program at the 3800 Blackford Avenue campus in San Jose (Grades 6–12). This role is essential in supporting both instructional leadership and daily operations as the program continues to grow.
Working closely with the Principal and leadership team, the Vice Principal supports staff, students, and families through supervision, student support, family communication, data analysis, and professional development.
The ideal candidate brings strong administrative experience, a passion for working with students, and a solid foundation in instructional practices to drive student and staff success.


Primary Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supporting the following:


• Serve as the primary day-to-day leader for staff and students, managing issues and operations
• Exercise sound judgment and maintain alignment with the Principal on high-priority or sensitive matters
• Oversee campus operations, including supervision, scheduling, and real-time problem-solving
• Act as the main point of contact for staff, making timely, independent decisions aligned with school policies
• Collaborate with leadership and faculty to strengthen a high-quality, student-centered academic program
• Serve as a liaison to assigned grade levels or departments, maintaining regular communication and support
• Lead instructional excellence through classroom observations, feedback, coaching, and curriculum alignment
• Support teacher development, accountability, and professional growth through ongoing coaching and collaboration
• Oversee student systems (behavior, attendance, interventions) and ensure consistent implementation
• Foster a positive student experience, including school culture, events, and engagement
• Support planning and coordination of the school calendar, including key academic milestones and events
• Use student data to inform decisions and drive school improvement
• Partner with families to communicate student progress and address concerns at the Vice Principal level

Additional responsibilities may include:
• Overseeing planning, execution, and chaperoning of student trips and experiential learning opportunities, ensuring alignment with school goals, safety expectations, and student experience
• Occasional evening and weekend responsibilities as needed

Essential Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience; administrative experience preferred
• Proven ability to manage daily school operations and multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, staff, and families
• Experience supporting student systems (behavior, attendance, well-being)
• Ability to use academic and behavioral data to inform decisions and drive improvement
• Experience coaching and supporting faculty through feedback and professional development
• Strong organizational, time management, and attention to detail
• Collaborative, reflective leadership approach with a commitment to inclusivity and whole-child development
• Valid First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
