About the Role:

Brighton School is seeking a dedicated and engaging Long-Term 4th Grade Substitute Teacher to support our students from December through May. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for elementary education, strong classroom presence, and the ability to create a positive, structured, and inspiring learning environment for 4th grade students.
This long-term substitute role will help ensure continuity of instruction within the 4th grade classroom while supporting students’ academic growth, confidence, curiosity, and social-emotional development. The contract hours for this position are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The long-term substitute assignment is expected to run from December through May, with a preferred start date in October or November to allow for transition, onboarding, and collaboration with the campus team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with the school’s curriculum and grade-level expectations
• Support students in building foundational skills in core academic subjects, including reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies
Maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and confidence
• Prepare and implement lesson plans that support continuity of instruction throughout the long-term assignment
• Collaborate with school leadership, faculty, and staff to support student learning and uphold Brighton School’s expectations and policies
• Adapt instruction to meet the needs of students with varying learning styles and abilities
• Support classroom management, student engagement, and a safe, respectful learning environment
• Communicate professionally with students, families, and colleagues as appropriate
• Assist with grade-level activities, school events, and other classroom responsibilities as needed
What We’re Looking For:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field is preferred
• Previous teaching or substitute teaching experience is preferred
• Experience working with elementary-aged students, particularly upper elementary grades, is strongly preferred
• Ability to teach core elementary subjects and support student growth across academic areas
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a warm, engaging, and structured learning environment
• A positive, energetic, patient, and professional demeanor with strong communication skills
• Flexibility and the ability to adapt to student needs, campus expectations, and evolving classroom priorities
