Position: French Visiting Assistant
Reports to: School Director
Employment Status: Salaried, $32,500 over 10 months
Contract start date: August 1, 2026

Duties The preschool classroom assistant will be expected to:
• Support the teacher in all tasks and be an engaged collaborator in classroom life.
• Speak primarily French to students, as it is their language of instruction.
• Substitute for the teacher during short-term absences.
• Work with a full group or a half-group according to the teacher's instructions.
• Supervise recess and lunch periods.
• Maintain classroom cleanliness.
• Help children with dressing/undressing and hygiene routines.
• Lead vacation camps during the October and February breaks.
Work Schedule Working hours are either 8:00am–4:30pm or 9:30am–6:00pm, with a 30-minute lunch break and two 10-minute breaks.
Annual Calendar The position starts on August 17, 2025 and ends on June 19, 2026. There are two vacation periods during the year:
• Winter break: December 19, 2025 after school through January 2, 2026 (inclusive)
• Spring break: April 20–24, 2026

Les fonctions
L’assistant de classe maternelle devra:
- seconder l'enseignant dans toutes ses tâches et sera un collaborateur investi dans la vie de classe.
- parler essentiellement français aux élèves dont c'est la langue de scolarisation.
- remplacer l’enseignant sur des absences de courte durée.
- prendre en charge un groupe ou un demi-groupe selon les instructions de l’enseignant.
- surveiller les récréations et les temps de déjeuner
- maintenir la propreté de la classe,
- aider les enfants à se vêtir/dévêtir et à suivre les règles d'hygiène
- animer les camps de vacances pendant les vacances d'octobre et de février

Les horaires de travail
Les horaires sont de 8h00-16h30 ou 9h30-18h00 avec une pause déjeuner de 30 minutes et deux pauses de 10 minutes.

Le calendrier annuel
La prise de poste s’effectue le 17 août 2025 et prend fin le 19 juin 2026.
Il y deux périodes de congés sur l’année:
• Les congés de fin d'année: 19/12/2025 après l’école au 02/01/26 inclus
• Les congés de Pâques : du 20 au 24 avril 2026
