Boys Basketball Coach – Paragon Prep
Paragon Prep has delivered a rigorous and nurturing environment to students PK-8th grade since 1997. Graduates are ready for the honors program of any high school and participate in athletics, academic competitions, robotics, and community service projects. Paragon delivers a first-rate education in a small setting for students who are excited about learning. Beyond mastering the most challenging curriculum in the area and the opportunity to earn up to five high school credits, students at Paragon Prep have the chance to excel in competitive sports and explore a wide array of electives, enriching their educational journey.
About the Role
Paragon Prep is seeking a part-time Middle School Boys Basketball Coach to support its 5th/6th grade and 7th/8th grade boys basketball teams. This seasonal position will begin November 9, 2026, and continue through February 20, 2027, for approximately 8 to 10 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours.
The ideal candidate is a positive, team-oriented, and energetic coach who enjoys working with youth athletes and is committed to fostering skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and a rewarding student experience.
You will also:
• Plan and lead organized, age-appropriate practices that develop individual skills, team concepts, and game readiness.
• Coach student-athletes during practices, regular-season games, and the end-of-season tournament.
• Create a positive and inclusive team environment grounded in effort, accountability, respect, and sportsmanship.
• Provide clear instruction, constructive feedback, and encouragement appropriate for middle school athletes.
• Prioritize student safety and well-being while following school, facility, and athletic-program policies.
• Communicate professionally with student-athletes, families, school leaders, and opposing teams.
• Assist with game preparation, equipment organization, and other team-related responsibilities as needed.
Season and Schedule
• Season: November 9, 2026–February 20, 2027.
• Weekly commitment: Approximately 8 to 10 hours, with the possibility of additional hours.
• 7th/8th Grade Boys Team practices: Mondays from 4:00–5:30 p.m. and Tuesdays/Thursdays from 3:00–4:30 p.m.
• 5th/6th Grade Boys Team practices: Tuesdays/Thursdays from 4:00–5:30 p.m.
• Games: One to two games per week, typically beginning between 4:00 and 7:30 p.m. on weekdays.
• Weekend commitment: The end-of-season tournament on February 20, 2027.
What We’re Looking For
• Basketball playing and coaching experience required.
• Experience working with middle school athletes required.
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, team concepts, and age-appropriate coaching practices.
• A positive, energetic, and team-oriented coaching style.
• Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Dependability and availability for the listed practices, games, and end-of-season tournament.
• Ability to work in person at the school campus and meet the physical demands of coaching basketball.
