About Merryhill School

Excellence in Education Since 1949

Our Mission

Merryhill is more than a school.

It's a place where confidence is practiced every day. Where students are encouraged to participate, challenged to think independently, and supported through the process of learning and growing.

Through the Merryhill Method, students embrace meaningful challenges while developing the academic and interpersonal skills needed to thrive. Educators serve as trusted mentors who create engaging learning environments, provide personalized guidance, and help students discover what they are capable of achieving.

Our Story

From our founding as a single preschool in 1949, to a multi-state network of trusted private schools today, we are rooted in tradition and focused on the future.

Humble Beginnings, Grand Vision

Merryhill School was founded in 1949 in a church annex in downtown Sacramento, California with a vision to create not just a school, but a caring and nurturing place where parents could feel at ease leaving their young children. As the surrounding area grew, so did Merryhill. More schools were established and classes were offered up to 5th grade.

Creating Programs Before They Exist

In the late 1970s, a new owner purchased the schools with the vision to provide a strong academic program, even creating a STEAM program before the term existed. The first Merryhill middle school opened in 1980, adding 7th and 8th grades. By 1989 there were 22 Merryhill locations in California and 1998 the first Merryhill School outside of California opened in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2009, the brand expanded to Texas and in 2016 opened locations in Colorado.

Looking to the Future

Today Merryhill School is a proud part of Spring Education Group, with nearly 30 campuses in four states. Even though we've come a long way from our humble beginning, we still pride ourselves on a community-focused approach to education that reflects the local interests and needs of students. Our advanced curriculum takes students from preschool to middle school while laying a solid foundation for future academic success.
