Our Mission

At LePort Montessori, our mission is to help our students grow in all aspects of life—academically, emotionally, and socially. We aim to prepare them for the future by inspiring a lifelong love of learning. Our goal is to not just teach facts to our students, but to help them learn how to think, explore new things, and understand the world.

Learning & Growth

At our school, we help our students learn knowledge and life skills. Students get to choose what work they want to do and can learn at their own pace. Our teachers help guide them as they learn how to think, solve problems, and work on their own. Our students also learn how to be kind, responsible, and work well with others. These skills help them grow into confident and capable people. We believe learning is more than just academics. We help our students build good habits that will benefit them throughout their lives. We teach them how to work together, make smart choices, and respect others. By focusing on personal growth along with academics, we prepare them for success in school and beyond.

Dedicated Teachers

We know that great teachers make a big difference in a child’s learning. That’s why we hire the best and give them everything they need to help their students succeed. Our teachers love what they do and are passionate about each child’s growth and learning. They create a calm classroom where students can enjoy learning and do their best. They watch their students to see what they are interested in and when they are ready to learn something new. This helps teacher give lessons at just the right time.

Teachers also help their students become independent by allowing them to do things on their own. They know just how much help to give, so their students feel confident and think for themselves. Instead of telling the children what to do, teachers guide them and give them the freedom to explore.

A History of Innovation

LePort Montessori was started by Dr. Peter LePort, a parent who wanted a better education for his children. While he was in medical school, Dr. LePort learned about Dr. Maria Montessori and her ideas for teaching. He liked how Montessori’s method helped children grow both in their thinking and their character. When his children were old enough for school, Dr. LePort enrolled them in Montessori programs. But he wasn’t happy with many of the schools. Even though he believed in the Montessori way of teaching, he was disappointed with how the schools were run and how the teachers were supported. He decided to hire a teacher to homeschool his children, and helped her develop an innovative, new upper elementary program. Both of his children later went to top colleges and did very well in their studies.

Dr. LePort had been thinking about the field of education for decades, and starting a school was the next step. He wanted his school to offer more than just regular education. He wanted a place where children could learn to think for themselves, develop strong academic skills, and become independent, thoughtful people. He believed children should not just memorize facts but should also understand what they are learning and know how to use it in real life. LePort Montessori Schools is the culmination of his efforts to provide children with a superior education.

Our Curriculum

Our mission is not simply to create academically successful students, but to help them grow into happy, capable adults. We want our students to learn the knowledge and skills they need, while also building strong character and practical life skills.

When we choose what we teach, we think about what helps children succeed in the long run. We compare learning to a tree. The most important lessons, like reading, math, and thinking skills, are the trunk of the tree. These lessons give support to everything else, like a child's hobbies and interests, which are the branches and leaves that grow from the trunk.

With this in mind, we focus on six main subjects: language arts, literature, history, math, geography, and science.
