DIRECTOR OF ADMISSIONS

BASIS Independent Raleigh-Durham, a grades K-12 private school, is seeking qualified candidates for a Director of Admissions position to begin in January 2027!

What We're Looking For

The Director of Admissions is responsible for new student growth. They lead and manage all aspects of campus level admissions and enrollment reporting to the VP of Admissions and working in close partnership with the Head of School.  The Director of Admissions leads the implementation of our BASIS Independent School standards for campus tours, admissions events, application processes, and strategic partnerships, ensuring a seamless, engaging, and informative experience for prospective families.

Your Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct interviews with prospective student families and evaluate prospective student needs, interests and qualifications while providing clear and concise information to help prospective families make an informed decision regarding attendance at the school.

• Communicate the philosophy and unique features of the school to prospective families; is an excellent storyteller.

• Develop a strong understanding of and embrace the school’s history, mission, and marketing materials to communicate effectively with prospective families and help advance enrollment goals.

• Thoughtfully communicate genuine care for families’ stories and future goals and possess the agility to clearly tailor a picture of how the BASIS Independent Schools program will uniquely support the family.

• Provide our BASIS Independent School professional and welcoming sense of hospitality to every prospective family; provide training and guidance to cultivate our culture of hospitality; hold others accountable to our hospitality standards.

• Lead the development of annual new student enrollment plans in collaboration with VP of Admissions, and Head of School

• Provide execution capabilities, direction, and leadership to all individual contributors in the enrollment and admissions process to ensure each and every prospective family has the highest quality BASIS Independent School experience from inquiry through the first day of school.

• Lead and coordinate campus tours to ensure the Head of School, plus key teachers, will engage with the prospective family for an optimal tour experience.

• Direct the planning and execution of high-quality admissions events, including family meetings, campus tours, and entrance exam sessions and playdates, Information Sessions, Open Houses, and other admissions-related events; expected to host these events with school leadership.

• Lead the Admissions team’s communications to prospective families on the interest list, writing newsletters, content campaigns, and blog posts while overseeing the team’s development and delivery of additional communications as needed. Partner with the Communications Manager to develop a blog editorial calendar and coordinate social media posts to drive engagement and event attendance.

• Cultivate and lead strategic partnerships with feeder schools while serving as the primary relationship manager for key external organizations for enrollment purposes.

• Develop and execute an annual outreach campaign by identifying and pursuing opportunities to engage prospective parents, seeking out local event sponsorship opportunities, design and host external events with Parent Ambassadors, lead grassroots community initiatives, and other outreach efforts that build awareness, generate interest, and support new student enrollment growth.

• Mobilize the current parent community through brand ambassadors and other programs to drive new student inquiries and support enrollment growth through organic referrals.


• In partnership with VP of Admissions, analyze enrollment funnel metrics and translate analytics into actionable strategies, proactively identifying and resolving funnel trends and gaps, to ensure enrollment targets are met.

• Lead and develop an Admissions team, driving campus-wide admissions success through collaborative leadership, training, and mentorship to direct team’s efforts to achieve annual enrollment goals.

• Build relationships with school faculty including teachers and front office staff to facilitate warm welcomes and smooth transitions for prospective families.

• Assist prospective student families through the admissions process in accordance with all applicable federal and state regulations, school policies and procedures, and in compliance with all accrediting standards and requirements.

• Manage CRM system input, upkeep, and follow through for all campus enrollment.

Position Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Marketing or Communications preferred.

• 4+ years relevant sales experience.

• 2-3 years admissions experience at top secondary or post-secondary institutions, preferred.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
