The ideal candidate will be committed to building a strong, sustainable team culture grounded in discipline, accountability, skill development, and respect. This coach will take ownership of the program—establishing structure, fostering student-athlete growth, and upholding the values of BASIS Independent Schools.<br><br>Key Responsibilities:<br><br> • Program Leadership & Culture Building<br><br> • Develop and implement a clear, positive, and competitive team culture built on discipline, hard work, sportsmanship, and high expectations.<br><br> • Establish consistent program standards, routines, and expectations for student-athletes.<br><br> • Build strong relationships with players, families, and school leadership to ensure alignment with the mission of BASIS Independent Schools.<br><br> • Serve as a role model for integrity, responsibility, and resilience.<br><br> • Coaching & Skill Development<br><br> • Provide high-level instruction in sport-specific technique, fundamentals, and advanced strategy.<br><br> • Create structured practice plans focused on progression, individual improvement, and team performance.<br><br> • Analyze student-athlete strengths and areas for growth, providing targeted feedback to support their development.<br><br> • Foster a competitive environment that encourages continuous improvement and excellence.<br><br> • Program Management<br><br> • Oversee all aspects of the varsity program, including tryouts, roster selection, scheduling, and game preparation.<br><br> • Maintain accurate equipment inventory and ensure a safe and organized practice environment.<br><br> • Student-Athlete Support & Accountability<br><br> • Promote academic accountability and ensure that student-athletes meet all eligibility and conduct expectations.<br><br> • Reinforce discipline, punctuality, effort, and team-first values.<br><br> • Address behavioral or performance issues fairly and consistently.<br><br><br>Qualifications:<br><br> • Prior high school, collegiate, or club coaching experience required; varsity-level experience strongly preferred.<br><br> • Deep knowledge of sport-specific rules, techniques, and modern coaching methods.<br><br> • Demonstrated ability to build or transform a program culture.<br><br> • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.<br><br> • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).<br><br>Preferred Characteristics:<br><br> • High-energy, motivating, and student-centered coaching style.<br><br> • Ability to mentor athletes both on and off the court/field.<br><br> • Consistent and disciplined with excellent time-management skills.<br><br><br>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This position is a visible presence in all areas of the school and is responsible for issues relating to the well-being of the students at the school.
