The Summer Camp Instructor is responsible for using provided materials to plan, teach, and coordinate day camp for a specific age group. This includes carrying out plans and leads themed camps with support from a summer team.
Primary Responsibilities
• Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff.
• Assist or lead in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers within activities and throughout the camp in order to meet the intended camper outcomes.
• Participate in the development and implementation of program activities for campers within the mission and outcomes.
• Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior.
• Represent the camp when interacting with parents or community members.
Employment Qualifications
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have experience working with children.
• Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must be enthusiastic, responsible, and reliable.
• Must be able to work in a team environment.
• Must be able to pass a criminal background check and a child abuse clearance check.
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous experience working with children in a camp or similar setting preferred.
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and adapt to changing situations
• CPR and First Aid certification (preferred, but not required)
• Must be able to stand, walk, and run for extended periods of time.
