About the Role
Spring Education Group is seeking a Senior Accountant to serve as a key member of the Accounting team. Operating with a high degree of independence, this role owns key month-end close activities, complex account reconciliations, and financial analysis while supporting accounting leadership across all levels.
The Senior Accountant will also serve as a resource and mentor to Staff Accountants, reviewing work and providing constructive feedback. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who combines strong technical expertise with sound judgment, collaboration, and a commitment to strengthening the broader team.
This is a hybrid position requiring three days per week in the office and two days remote.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations & Financial Close
• Lead key components of the monthly and annual financial close process, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and internal control guidelines
• Prepare and review journal entries within NetSuite, including entries prepared by Staff Accountants
• Prepare and review complex account reconciliations, including cash, fixed assets, revenue, payroll, and lease areas, using independent judgment and problem-solving skills
• Support daily cash application and reconciliation processes, including ownership of the cash management system and related workflows
• Assist the Accounting Manager with budget preparation in assigned areas
Financial Reporting & Analysis
• Analyze account fluctuations and variances in internal reporting, providing explanations and insights to the Accounting Manager, FP&A team, and other leaders
• Prepare ad hoc reporting and analysis to support departments and leaders across the organization
Systems & Process Improvement
• Identify process breakdowns and recommend improvements that strengthen the internal control environment
• Support company efforts to use artificial intelligence, automation, and technology solutions to enhance operations
Audit & Compliance
• Assist in coordinating the year-end audit, providing documentation and explanations to auditors in areas of responsibility
• Perform assigned responsibilities in accordance with company policies and proper accounting practices
Collaboration & Mentorship
• Serve as a resource and mentor to Staff Accountants, reviewing their work and providing constructive feedback
• Collaborate effectively with departments across the Accounting and Finance team and the broader organization
• Support special projects as needed
What We’re Looking For
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent field
• Minimum of five years of general ledger or public accounting experience
• Demonstrated understanding and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Working knowledge of general ledger and feeder systems, with the ability to use reporting tools to compile, analyze, and interpret data
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, XLOOKUPs, and filters
Preferred Qualifications
• CPA license or active pursuit of CPA licensure
• Experience with NetSuite, Sage Fixed Assets, or BlackLine
• Experience reviewing the work of or mentoring junior accounting staff
• Track record of driving process improvements in previous roles
