About the Role
Stratford School is seeking an enthusiastic, dependable, and dedicated Elementary Long-Term Substitute Teacher to provide consistent classroom instruction and support throughout a specific, temporary assignment period.

You will help maintain continuity in students’ learning, establish consistent classroom routines, and create a supportive environment where students feel confident, engaged, and ready to learn.
As a Long-Term Substitute Teacher, you will take an active role in implementing lesson plans, monitoring student progress, managing classroom activities, and supporting students’ academic and social-emotional development. You will partner with school leadership and fellow educators to ensure students continue to receive a positive, structured, and meaningful educational experience throughout the assignment.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced educator or an aspiring teacher looking to gain consistent, hands-on classroom experience.
You Will Also…
• Provide consistent daily instruction: Lead classroom instruction each school day throughout the assignment period, implementing established lesson plans, curriculum materials, and learning activities.
• Take ownership of the classroom: Manage daily classroom operations, establish consistent routines, and maintain an organized, productive learning environment.
• Support academic progress: Monitor student participation and understanding, provide guidance and feedback, and help students work toward established learning objectives.
• Maintain classroom management: Set clear expectations, promote positive behavior, address classroom challenges appropriately, and ensure a respectful and inclusive environment.
• Plan and prepare for instruction: Review lesson plans and instructional materials, prepare classroom activities, and organize resources needed to support effective daily learning.
• Communicate with school leadership: Provide updates regarding classroom progress, student needs, and any concerns that may arise during the assignment.
• Collaborate with fellow educators: Work with grade-level teams, instructional staff, and school leadership to maintain alignment with curriculum expectations and school practices.
• Support the whole student: Encourage students’ academic, social, and emotional growth while providing appropriate guidance and support throughout the school day.
• Maintain a safe classroom: Supervise students during instruction, transitions, recess, lunch, and other assigned activities while following campus safety procedures and school policies.
• Ensure a smooth classroom transition: Maintain clear classroom records, share relevant updates, and support a smooth transition at the conclusion of the assignment or upon the regular teacher’s return.
• Demonstrate professionalism and reliability: Arrive prepared and on time each day, maintain consistent attendance, and fulfill the responsibilities of the assignment for its designated duration.
What We Are Looking For

• The ability to implement lesson plans, deliver instruction, and keep students engaged in meaningful learning activities.
• Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prepare for instruction, manage classroom responsibilities, and monitor student progress.
