We are seeking caring, energetic, native French-speaking Visiting Assistant Teachers who are passionate about bilingual education and early childhood or elementary development. This role supports classroom instruction within a French immersion environment aligned with French national education standards.
About the Role
The French Visiting Assistant Teacher works in partnership with the Lead Teacher to support implementation of curriculum aligned with the French national standards. This position plays an essential role in reinforcing language acquisition, maintaining a structured and engaging classroom environment, and supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional development in a bilingual setting.
This role is ideal for educators seeking professional experience in French immersion education, international school environments, and collaborative classroom models.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the Lead Teacher in delivering instruction aligned with French national curriculum standards
• Assist with lesson preparation, including organizing materials and setting up classroom resources
• Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce academic content and French language development
• Help monitor and maintain daily classroom routines and schedules
• Maintain a safe, organized, and developmentally appropriate learning environment
• Supervise students during transitions, lunch, recess, and school excursions
• Observe and document student progress in academic and social-emotional areas under the guidance of the Lead Teacher
• Collaborate with Lead Teachers to identify student needs and support instructional adjustments
• Communicate appropriately with families as directed by the Lead Teacher
Participate in required training sessions, school events, and professional collaboration meetings
• Comply with school policies, state regulations, and safety procedures
Qualifications
• Native French speaker (required)
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Education or a related field (preferred)
• Experience working with preschool or elementary-aged children
• Familiarity with French and American educational systems
• Ability to support differentiated instruction and language acquisition strategies
• Strong organizational and classroom support skills
• Effective communication skills in French and functional proficiency in English
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team-teaching model
• Authorization to work in the United States
• Ability to pass a criminal background check
