Position Summary: 

This individual is responsible for the overall management of the Elementary Extended Day program at their assigned campus.  Their primary objective is to hire, develop, and engage all employees on the Extended Day Team.  They are responsible for the direct supervision of all Lunch and Extended Day staff, overseeing program implementation and for the overall supervision of students enrolled in this program to ensure their health and safety at all times. 

 

Key Areas of Focus:

 

  • Hiring, Developing and Engaging Employees:  In conjunction with school leaders, share responsibility for the hiring, training, and retention of staff members on the Extended Day Team; training and support for staff members through modeling and individual program plans; enabling a community of collaboration and teamwork.

 

  • Student Safety:  Responsible for managing compliance with Stratford’s safety ratios; scheduling safety trainings and drills as needed; monitoring lunch practices, including those required from the local health department; regularly inspecting the school for safety hazards and taking corrective action when needed, and notifying campus leadership of safety concerns.

 

  • Scheduling:  Actively work with campus leaders and staff to develop, adjust and communicate work schedules, as well as daily program schedules; monitor staffing needs based on safety ratio numbers.

 

  • Program Execution and Quality:  Provide direct day-to-day oversight of the overall Extended Day program for students from TK-8th grades; monitor lesson plans from the Extended Day Team including age appropriate activities; implement quality control measures to support Stratford’s mission and high standards, and report results and action plans regularly to school leaders.

 

 

  • Parent Satisfaction:  Actively work to increase overall parent satisfaction in the Extended Day program; provide regular communication to parents in a respectful and appropriate manner; determine areas for improvement based on parent feedback and input from Stratford leadership.

Skills/Knowledge/Education:

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience in education programs preferred
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience in elementary student after-school or summer programming desired (camps, YMCA, etc.)
  • Competency in general computer skills; Microsoft Office proficient
  • A passion for students, teachers, growth, and learning

Physical Requirements:

Works in a fast-paced, high pressure environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a diverse array of contacts.  Computer time and sitting are necessary in this position.   Requires a high level of energy with the ability to move from a sitting to standing position frequently.  Must be able to bend, stoop, and perform extensive walking.   Can lift up to 30 pounds and is able to work indoors and outdoors.  Must be able to supervise students by sight and sound.
