Description

Our people are the heart of Laurel Springs School culture. We take pride in creating amazing, innovative experiences that help our K-12 students transform their lives through learning. This position is responsible for helping mold the future of Laurel Springs School as an online, private high school that delivers learning experiences in new and innovative ways. One of the primary responsibilities is helping to build and support next-generation digital experiences for our students and parents.

We are looking for a highly creative individual with the ability to lead LSS to build our visual brand through the experiences of our students and parents (customers). The Creative Director is responsible for identifying opportunities for understanding customer needs and designing experience, products, assets, and measurements to ensure we are meeting those needs. This position has a broad skill set that is both strategic and tactical with the ability to provide design solutions, innovation, and ideas while continuing to improve on our brand recognition and integrity. The Creative Director will set the standard for consistency of the brand look and feel across all channels and experiences. This position works closely with other marketing team members, various departments throughout LSS, as well as agencies and vendors. Marketing efforts are aimed at both customer acquisition and retention.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Champion, mentor and lead the LSS creative team, creating a user-centered mindset for the brand, design, and execution of creative assets and experiences
  • Create a culture of inspiration, insight, and authority on design and user experience
  • Balance creative thinking with interpersonal skills and demonstrate an ability to communicate concepts to both Marketing and internal partners
  • Establish an outstanding design practice that incorporates the development of best practices to develop workflows that accelerate the ideation process, and promote a positive, inclusive environment
  • Able to lead creative direction and standards for varying photography, digital, print, and brand projects
  • Manage scope, direction, and delivery of digital experience user flows, information architecture, UX interaction design, prototyping, and visual design
  • Show an exceptional familiarity with industry design language and standards and design protocols
  • Ability to develop a strong empathy for the end-user – understanding the pain points before they do and finding a design solution to reduce that friction
  • Able to inspire the team to create designs and experiences that engage and delight customers
  • Work closely with the various teams to manage and adhere to established delivery schedules, while ensuring brand quality standards are met
  • Driven, self-starter who can provide direction to teams and designers at a 40,000 ft. level and at a pixel level (whichever is most needed)
  • Help manage activities of external agencies and creative freelancers
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, UX, Marketing, Business, or related field
  • 5 + years or more experience in Adobe creative cloud (In-Design, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
  • 5 + years or more experience in managing teams in Marketing, Agency or Creative
  • Demonstrated excellence in brand management, digital design, and design aesthetics
  • Possess excellent problem-solving and high-level conceptual skills
  • Brand identity, web/mobile user interface, and interaction design experience
  • Basic knowledge of UX, responsive design, and information architecture
  • Basic understanding of technical constraints of web, browsers & devices
  • Experience directing a creative team
