About the Role

Van Avery Prep is seeking an enthusiastic and flexible Substitute Teacher. This on-call position requires the ability to step into the classroom and continue the smooth delivery of the day's lesson plans in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Follow and implement lesson plans left by the regular classroom teacher.
  • Maintain classroom management, ensuring a positive and nurturing environment conducive to learning.
  • Supervise students in the classroom and other areas as needed.
  • Ensure the classroom is kept orderly and clean during your coverage.
  • In the case of long-term substitute assignments, develop and deliver lesson plans aligned with school goals and curriculum.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure a seamless educational experience.
  • Uphold the school's values, promoting respect, dignity, and responsibility in all interactions with students.

What We Are Looking For:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a classroom setting, particularly with elementary and middle school students, is highly desirable.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions with attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills and punctuality.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in managing diverse classroom situations.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Patience, professionalism, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to maintain discipline and a structured learning environment.
  • Cooperative and team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills.
