We are looking for coaches to teach weekly group lessons for flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and percussion.
This is a seasonal position from September 2024 to April 2025
Primary Responsibilities of the After School Band Coach:The responsibilities of the band coaches will vary depending on the instrument and needs, but in general, they will consist of some or all of the following:
- Commitment to the well-being of students, development of the Stratford music program, quality coaching, and continued education on best practices.
- Teaching instrument care, proper embouchure technique, notation fundamentals and reading, and running sectionals for their ensemble music
- Communicate effectively with the music department with all band related information.
- Help manage instruments and facilities
- Responsible for helping supervise your students at all times, including after practice, until your specific team members have been picked up by a parent/guardian
The ideal candidate:The ideal coaching candidate will have the following:
- Experience coaching at the high school or college level
- A high school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree encouraged)
- Prior playing experience, coaching experience, or any combination of the two in the instrument you seek to coach
- Strong knowledge of your instrument
Skills and Attributes:The ideal coach will be able to:
- Coach students of different ages and skill levels
- Communicate effectively
- Access and utilize technology to support their musical development
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, students, parents, and community members
Coaches will be paid hourly based on their previous experience, certifications (If any), and level of education.
Pay Range: $45-50 per hour
