The music teacher will be responsible for the general supervision and management of the music program at Stratford School. This person must be professionally prepared to teach music to young children. Additionally, the teacher agrees to uphold the high expectations and standards of Stratford School.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Planning, supervising, and implementing the music curriculum in accordance with Stratford School policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the grade level teachers to plan and integrate the Core Knowledge curriculum within the music program.
  • Assist teachers with the use of rhythm instruments.
  • Participation in all school events and other special events as needed; Stratford School's Annual Family Picnic, in-house training programs and Staff Meetings.
  • Monitor and assess student performance. Maintain close communication with the principal and teacher regarding student issues.
  • Establish a non-punitive method of seeking positive rather than negative methods to correct student behavior.
  • Learn basic elements of music including the great composers.

Skills/Knowledge/Education:

Bachelors Degree with focus on music preferred, HSD required.
Fluent sight reading is required.
Previous piano and/or music teaching experience preferred.
We are looking for experienced individuals who enjoy working with music students.
Extensive experience and knowledge of piano and music instruction.
Wage range $28.00-$35.00
