Position: Native French Assistant Teacher

Employment Status: Monday - Friday 8 AM - 2:15 PM

Duration: Year-Round (12 months)

The Essentials...

The Native French Assistant Teacher provides essential logistical support to L’Etoile students and staff. They work closely with the lead teacher to support the learning objectives and safety of the students. We are looking for Assistant Teachers who like to work with children and to partner with members of our school community to create a safe, nurturing, and structured environment for our students.

Assistant Teachers at L’Etoile:

  •   Assume the role of the teacher in his/her absence
  •   Supervise students and assist teachers in the classroom
  •   Cover teacher breaks including lunchtime and recess
  •   Engage students in structured activities in the classroom and during recess
  •   Inform the Head of School or Pedagogical Director of disciplinary situations involving students
  •   Ensure students follow all health and safety guidelines
  •   Communicate regularly with lead teachers and administrators
  •   Attend orientations, staff meetings, and training sessions as assigned
  •   Other related duties as needed


The ideal candidate:

  •   Is a flexible, organized, and independent team player
  •   Has strong interpersonal skills
  •   Has prior experience working in a school environment or with children
  •   Is fluent in English, with knowledge and understanding of the French language and culture a plus
  •   Is willing to learn and implement positive behavioral management techniques
  •   Is dependable and on-time
  •   Has basic computer skills, with use of Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets a plus
  •   Must be at least 18 years of age.
  •   Must have a minimum of a high school diploma.
  •   Prior education or child care experience is required.
  •   Complies with all state-specific education and licensing standards, and maintains validation of credentials for the position (i.e. professional development).
  •   Must successfully clear criminal background without exemption.

Additional Information

  •   This position requires onsite presence at L’Etoile French Immersion School
  •   Assistant Teacher must obtain and maintain current Office of Childcare certifications including Central Background Registry, Food Handler, CPR/First Aid
